To configure VLC, just download and run the following script on your PC (Windows only) :

Windows will prompt you to make changes to the VLC VLC folder and allow access to the network. These actions are necessary for the proper operation , please stop them.
What does the hyphen ?
Basically , VLC Getting your web -enabled interface, and passes some parameters to improve finding and codec performance of RTSP streaming .

NOT RECOMMENDED VERSIONS : 2.0.4 , 2.0.1, versions prior to 1.1.11

Supported formats: AVI , FLV , MP4 , MP3 , MKV , WMV , JPG , MPEG , MPG , RMVB , M4V , MOV, 3GP, TS , VOB . ( Some videos in these formats may not work because sometimes VLC can not transcode them to a supported format mp4 or 3gp android -)
